Summary

Our Design Engineers drive the innovative technical solutions on which our customers rely. The life cycle of this critical job performance can begin even as the Request for Proposal is being developed by our customers. This engineer adds value to the customer often before we ever even receive an RFQ. When the RFQ is in-house, the Design Engineer leads the team in evaluating the customer’s needs and begins the important aspects of scope development. This professional evaluates the technical demands of the project and collaborates with essential stakeholders to create a market-leading solution. The Design Engineer works closely with our Estimating group, our vendor partners, our Sales team, and our Execution team, along with any technical partners brought in by our customers.

Education

Required Bachelor’s degree* in Engineering, preferred Electrical or Electrical focus.

* Would consider 15+ years of experience in electrical design and estimating.

Required 3+ years of direct design engineering experience.

Work Experience

Highly preferred – History of collaboration with multiple stakeholders

Highly preferred – Customer-facing business experience

  • Effectively communicate with customers and customer stakeholders.
  • Participate in the sales process as a valued Subject Matter Expert reflecting in-depth knowledge about the breadth of our product offerings.
  • Ensure effective and timely evaluation of all incoming RFQs.
  • Drive the complex process of developing cutting-edge proposals to customers’ electrical system challenges. Collaborate closely with:
    • Estimating to provide expert technical support as the details of our proposal develop.
    • Vendor Partners to deliver technically compliant componentry to the proposal.
    • Sales to understand the specific needs of each customer and to drive a solution that will ensure success.
    • Project Execution to ensure effective handoff for new incoming projects.
    • Project Engineers and Quality Team members to capture any lessons learned we have gained as we execute complex projects in the field.
    • Customers to provide technical support through all aspects of their project’s life cycle as needed.
  • Perform in a deadline-oriented environment.
  • Lead the design review process – review IFA drawings to confirm all client expectations are met and the scope of work (SOW) has been followed by our vendors prior to RFQ submittal.
  • Promote continuous improvements to both the quotations and project execution processes.
  • Learn and effectively utilize project folder structure and use network files for ALL work performed.
  • Capable of working independently and asking for assistance as needed.

  • Resolve and/or escalate internal and external issues in a timely fashion.
